Tim Thanks for the new beta first - unfortunately some of the new features aren´t working the way they ought to. Saving the language preference doesn´t work well - I prefer using SD in english, but after a few successful runs it all of a sudden defaults back to german - changing to english again next run gives a mishmash of languages - headlines german/content english. Next one is about the user documents specific to airfields, maybe I´m wrong here but in my understanding dropping a file, i.e EDTG_noise-abatement.pdf somewhere into the /sdcard/SkyDemon directory should result in showing the file under the corresponding EDTG airfield information - nothing´s there I´m afraid. keep up the excellent work ! kind regards -mike

That beta was released before we did the work to support airfield-specific user documents.
Can you please be more clear with steps to describe how to cause the language bug you're describing?

Tim,
thanks for the Beta.
I can confirm that the language selection creates a mix of german/english if english is selected on start-up ("Deutsch" is preselected, as device language is german).
The reactivity of the app is extremely slow (might be due to BETA?), not comparable to the latest stable version.
Regards Jan

+xThat beta was released before we did the work to support airfield-specific user documents. Can you please be more clear with steps to describe how to cause the language bug you're describing? SD runs in english on an android device using german as default language, this works for about two or three sessions - the welcome screen is in english - SD runs in english, fine. Then, all of a sudden by running SD the next time or after a reboot it defaults the welcome screen & selection buttons back to german. By choosing english & I agree now you will get the aforementioned language mishmash like this: -mike

So I switched SkyDemon to German, went into the app, killed the process, restarted, went into the app, all still German. Repeated the killing and restarting for a few minutes, nothing but German was shown. I then switched to French and went in. Another few minutes of killing and restarting and it still persists in French. What steps am I missing?

I've updated the beta today. It uses a different mechanism to store the selected language, and never defaults to an implicit language. The first time you run the app you'll get English, no matter what language your device is set to, but this will hopefully remove any ambiguity from it, and of course the setting should be remember from then on.
There is one case of "mixed-up languages" that I'm aware of, which is the tabs on the right, but I can fix that in future. They are created before the language is changed, basically. Any further instances you notice, please let me know!

Tim I switched languages back & forth, killed the process & rebooted - it seems that everything is working fine basically. I once had the case of mixed-up languages with the tabs on the right remained german as you described. User documents specific to airfields is working fine too, except for you have to store the files in the /sdcard/SkyDemon main directory to be recognized - what do you think about allowing to store in subdirectories too? thx -mike

I thought about that. The trouble is, changing the location of user documents now is tricky because people have been used to it for quite a long time. Subdirectories sound great on the face of it, but on iOS this is not straightforward at all to achieve. It's important to us that our code is as similar as possible between the two versions so for the moment, documents need to be in the same sort of directory structure (without subdirectories for the time being).
Glad to hear the language issue is pretty much resolved!

Tim, no big deal. Maybe you could stop showing these files (ICAO_.xxxxx.pdf) in the Airfields - All Documents - User Documents Tab again, because it will give you a really looooong list without using a subdirectory - difficult to keep a clear view thx -mike
